A new miniseries about the 1986 nuclear disaster focuses on the facts, and highlights the best and worst that humans are capable of

If you think you know what caused the 1986 explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear plant, one of the worst man-made disasters in history, a new miniseries reveals the real story was far more harrowing - and just hours away from turning into an even bigger global catastrophe.

Speaking to reporters in Los Angeles, creator Craig Mazin and stars Jared Harris and Emily Watson say the five-part dramatisation will highlight both the best and the worst that humans are capable of, as well as how closed political systems can make situations like this much more dangerous.
