BOSTON • Many fans hand over gifts - from flowers to soft toys - to their musical heroes at concerts.

But Mrs Michelle Obama goes to a show - and returns home with a present from the performer.

Over the weekend, she attended a Bruno Mars show in Washington, DC, which was part of his 24K Magic world tour.

She also got to meet the 31-year-old and he gave her a jersey with the words Obama 24K in gold.

He posted a picture on Instagram and wrote: "Last Night in DC Mrs Obama came to the concert and blessed us with her presence."

They have been fans of each other for a long time, reported Entertainment News.

In 2015, at the White House Easter Egg Roll to mark the fifth anniversary of her Let's Move! fitness drive, the then United States First Lady showed the way by dancing to Mars' 2014 hit, Uptown Funk!.

The singer also performed that song at a White House event, where he also met the Obamas.
