Compelling characters pull off the shows

Those who have never seen comedian Bill Hader on the sketch show Saturday Night Live will come to his new series, Barry, without the baggage of expecting him to be over-the-top funny.

And it will be less of a surprise to discover that the star is actually a talented dramatic performer - one who manages to delicately balance the tragic and comic to play a reluctant hitman bitten by the acting bug.
