SINGAPORE - Radio DJ Bobby Tonelli has left MediaCorp radio, making him the latest in a series of surprise exits from the radio scene in Singapore.

The 39-year-old, who hosted on radio station Class95FM, told Channel News Asia that he wants to concentrate on his arts and technology-related business ventures.

Thanking MediaCorp for giving him the chance to be on radio in 2010, he said: "I never thought I could be a radio deejay. I learnt a lot!" he said

"I used to do telemarketing, man! I did construction, loaded trailer trucks. Coming in to do this? I'm happy," Tonelli, who is also an actor, was quoted as saying.

Tonelli's departure follows that of notable MediaCorp DJs Glenn Ong and Mark Van Cuylenburg, who is also as The Flying Dutchman. Tonelli will still take on acting roles on television.

Ong announced his departure in January after 19 years with the company. He is currently a director at hospitality consulting firm CIR VIS. Van Cuylenburg, who signed off last December, also said he was leaving to focus on his businesses.
