Beijing - Another Chinese celebrity has been caught by the Beijing vice squad.

Golden Bear-winning director Wang Quanan, the husband of CJ7 starlet Zhang Yuqi, was detained last Wednesday for hiring prostitutes, the police announced today, said NetEase website.

On Weibo, the police said Wang, 48, was arrested with a 31-year-old woman at his studio, after he hired her through his mobile phone and paid 800 yuan for her services.

The police said he was found to have paid for sex on three consecutive days, Monday to Wednesday, which included hiring two prostitutes at the same time on Tuesday,

Zhang, his 28-year-old wife, was in the United States for New York Fashion Week. She is known for her roles in films such as Stephen Chow's CJ7 (2008).

Wang's film, Tuya's Marriage, won the top prize at the Berlin Film Festival in 2007. He married Zhang in 2011.

His arrest comes about a month after the drug arrests of actors Jaycee Chan and Kai Ko.
