HONG KONG • Actress-singer Joyce Cheng drew a crowd of celebrity supporters to her first ticketed solo concert at Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre on Saturday.

Apart from her actor dad Adam Cheng, in the packed hall were stars such as opera legend Pak Suet Sin, actors David Chiang, Sammul Chan and Kate Tsui, celebrity manager Florence Chan and singer Jade Kwan, with Joey Yung appearing as guest singer.

The 29-year-old, who grew up under the media glare as daughter of the late comedienne Lydia Sum, did not disappoint.

Apple Daily reported that she danced, kicked and did a cartwheel and the splits, coming on stage in a range of outfits ranging from the casual and demure to skin-revealing sexy.

The show was postponed on Friday because of Typhoon Haima, but Cheng provided her own waterworks, shedding tears at several points of the show. One was during a video segment showing a recent visit by her and a friend to her mother's grave in Canada.

"I give her 88 marks," her father, who was at the show with her two step-sisters, told Apple later. Not full marks, as there is room for improvement, he added.
