Tatum to play merman

Chiselled It-boy Channing Tatum, 36, will play a mermaid - or a merman - in a remake of the 1984 hit movie Splash.

The original movie starred Tom Hanks as a man who, as a boy, was rescued from drowning by a mermaid (Daryl Hannah). When she returns to land 20 years later, the two meet and fall in love.

In the remake - produced by Howard and Brian Grazer - Tatum will take on Hannah's role while Jillian Bell will play Hanks' part.

Fallon to host Golden Globes

Jimmy Fallon, host of NBC's The Tonight Show, will host the 2017 Golden Globe Awards, organisers announced. Fallon, 41, will host the Jan 8 ceremony, to be held in Beverly Hills, for the first time.
