Singapore Media Festival returns

The Singapore Media Festival (SMF) returns for its fourth edition from Nov 23 to Dec 3.

This year, the festival is introducing the Country- of-Focus programme, which highlights the talents and achievements of a single country. The Country-of-Focus this year is Indonesia.

The SMF is an umbrella festival hosted by the Info-communications Media Development Authority and comprises the Singapore International Film Festival, Asia TV Forum & Market, ScreenSingapore and Asian Television Awards.

Joni Sledge, 60, dies

Joni Sledge, who along with her siblings formed the group Sister Sledge and recorded the enduring hit We Are Family, has died, age 60.

She was found unresponsive at her Phoenix home last Friday and the cause of death has not been determined, said a statement.
