Buzzing: Showtime to release WikiLeaks film

Showtime to release WikiLeaks film

United States cable network Showtime said on Sunday that it is set to release Risk, a documentary from Oscar-winning film-maker Laura Poitras about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

The network will tie up with distributor Neon for a theatrical release before premiering the movie on television in a few months.

Assange, 45, has been at the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012, having taken refuge to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he faces a rape allegation.

Boss Baby still tops at US box office

American studios put forward two new wide-release movies over the weekend and both could not overthrow The Boss Baby.

Smurfs: The Lost Village took in about US$14 million (S$19.7 million), while Going In Style, about three feisty oldsters played by Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin, reaped US$12.5 million.

The big boss was again The Boss Baby, which collected about US$26.3 million for a two-week domestic total of US$89.4 million, according to comScore.

Mini Cooper for Bradley

Actor Bradley Cooper and Russian model Irina Shayk became first-time parents two weeks ago, according to People magazine. Details of the baby's gender and name are not known yet.
