Buzzing: Netflix to launch original feature films

NETFLIX TO LAUNCH ORIGINAL FEATURE FILMS

Netflix will release its first original feature films starting on Oct 16 with Cary Fukunaga's Beasts Of No Nation, starring Idris Elba.

Next up on Dec 11 will be comic western The Ridiculous Six, starring Adam Sandler. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend, starring Michelle Yeoh and Donnie Yen, will stream in the first quarter of next year. Paul Reubens will be back as Pee-wee Herman in Pee-wee's Big Holiday, out in March next year.


FILM ON U.S. SUPREME COURT'S SAME-SEX MARRIAGE RULING

20th Century Fox has secured the rights to make a movie about the Supreme Court case that effectively legalised same-sex marriage. The studio said it has bought the life rights of Ohio's Jim Obergefell, the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit that last month resulted in recognition of the right to same-sex marriage in the United States. It also bought his lawyer Al Gerhardstein's life rights and screen rights to a book to be co-written by Obergefell.


CLEAN BANDIT TO PLAY HERE

British electronic group Clean Bandit will play their first concert in Singapore at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa, on Nov 25. Tickets will be available at $58 (early-bird), $68 (standard) and $88 (at the door) from Sistic from Monday.
