Latest Pirates Of The Caribbean film hooks No.1 spot, Baywatch bellyflops
Disney's Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sailed into first place at the North American box office, despite franchise fatigue.
The film, which cost roughly US$400 million (S$554 million) to make and market worldwide, collected about US$62.2 million in North America and a strong US$208 million overseas.
In Singapore, it is called Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge.
The other major new studio movie, Paramount Pictures' Baywatch, was dead in the water.
Costing roughly US$125 million to make and market, it sold about US$18.1 million in tickets in North America, for a total of US$22.7 million since arriving last Thursday.
