Emma Watson's new film makes $82
Former Harry Potter star Emma Watson's latest movie The Colony took just £47 (S$82) in its British box-office opening weekend after showing in only three cinemas while immediately being made available for home-streaming.
It was released in the form of Video On Demand last Friday, the same day it began showing at the three British cinemas. British Film Institute figures showed it made £47. Watson, who played Hermione in the hugely successful Potter films, stars alongside German actor Daniel Bruhl in the movie about a sect in 1970s Chile.
Her next movie is Disney's remake of Beauty And The Beast, out in March.
Bill Cosby must stand trial
A Pennsylvania judge has denied Bill Cosby's latest bid to have sexual assault charges against him thrown out, ruling that he must stand trial. The judge rejected his arguments that prosecutors violated his rights by refusing to call accuser Andrea Constand as a witness at a preliminary hearing last May, thus shielding her from cross-examination. His lawyer vowed to appeal.
