Robert De Niro returns to the ring in a new boxing movie to be shown at the Cannes film festival this month, 36 years after his Oscar-winning performance in Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull (1980).

De Niro, 72, plays trainer Ray Arcel in Hands Of Stone, a biopic about Latino fighter Roberto Duran. The movie, to be out in August, is about the Panamanian brawler (played by Edgar Ramirez) who took the WBC welterweight title from Sugar Ray Leonard in 2008, only to shock the world by walking back to his corner in the rematch five months later saying: "No more."


U-ie dating actor

Korean singer-actress U-ie and actor Lee Sang Yoon on Tuesday confirmed that they are in a relationship. Her agency said they have been dating for a few months. A local media outlet said they met at a social gathering at the start of the year.


Drake in Forbes' rich list

Rapper Drake has entered Forbes' list of The Forbes Five Club Of Hip-hop's Wealthiest Artists with a net worth of US$60 million (S$81 million), said the magazine. He placed fifth, knocking off 50 Cent, who declared bankruptcy last year. Rapper-business mogul Diddy heads the list with US$750 million. Dr Dre, Jay Z and Birdman round off the list.


Drama on drug lord

The life of Mexican drug lord Joaquin El Chapo Guzman is to be turned into a drama series by the showrunner of Netflix hit drama Narcos. #Cartel, being developed by cable channel History, will chart the emergence of the drug gangs who use social media to promote their brand, Variety magazine said.
