Chris Rock to host Oscars

Chris Rock will host the Academy Awards ceremony on Feb 28, organisers announced.

When last led by Rock in 2005, the Oscars drew about 42.2 million viewers in the United States, far outstripping almost all recent broadcasts.


Thor and Alien movies to be shot in Australia

The next Marvel superhero Thor instalment and Ridley Scott's new Alien film will be shot in Australia from next year.

Ragnarok, starring Chris Hemsworth, and Scott's film for Twentieth Century Fox would generate 3,000 jobs and A$300 million (S$301 million) for the economy, said Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop on Thursday in Canberra.

Scott's film is tipped be called Alien: Paradise Lost.


Kardashian-Odom divorce is off

Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, 31, and Lamar Odom, 35, called off divorce proceedings on Wednesday in the wake of the basketball player's binge at a brothel that left him fighting for his life. She filed for divorce in 2013 citing irreconcilable differences after four years of marriage.

Her lawyer appeared before a Los Angeles judge to withdraw the papers. She had been at Odom's bedside since he was hospitalised.
