New curator for Costume Institute

After 14 years of overseeing blockbuster shows including the recent China: Through The Looking Glass, which have helped put the Metropolitan Museum of Art at the crossroads of glamour, fashion and art, 65-year-old Harold Koda, is retiring as curator in charge of the museum's Costume Institute.

On Tuesday, the Met board chose Mr Andrew Bolton, 49, his fellow curator, to succeed him.

Mr Koda's tenure included helping to host, with Vogue editor Anna Wintour, "the party of the year" - the annual Met Gala fundraiser, which drew a record US$12.5 million (S$17.7 million) for the museum this year.
