Bowie's art collection up for auction

Sotheby's on Monday previewed the well-known contemporary art collection of David Bowie at its gallery headquarters in New York ahead of its auction in November, including Damien Hirst's work, Beautiful, Shattering, Slashing, Violent, Pinky, Hacking, Sphincter Painting (above). The late rock star was deeply engaged in the world of art and joined the editorial staff of Modern Painter magazine, where he interviewed artists such as Hirst, Jeff Koons and Tracey Emin. The collection will move to Sotheby's in Hong Kong next month before the auction in London on Nov 10 and 11.
