Seoul (The Korea Herald/Asia News Network) - K-pop star Seungri, the youngest member of popular idol group BigBang, was reported to have been involved in a car accident early on Friday morning.

According to police reports, he was driving his Porsche down the Gangbyeon Expressway in Dongbu Ichon-dong, Seoul, at around 3am and struck a Mercedes-Benz on Banpo Bridge, causing his car to hit a guardrail and flip over.

At the scene, he claimed he was not injured and opted not to go to the hospital. However, YG officials later stated he would be admitted for a full check-up and to allow doctors to run tests.

Although the agency officials initially released a statement saying that the hospital results showed no signs of physical injuries, it was later revealed that he had minor internal bleeding in his liver.

"The final test results showed no fractures, but did find some mild bleeding in the liver, so he is being hospitalised," said a YG Entertainment representative. "He is expected to be in the hospital for about one week for treatment and recovery."

Two people were in the Mercedes-Benz that was struck, and no serious injuries were reported. Both the driver and the passenger were transferred to a hospital.

The 25-year-old star was leaving the launch of a fashion brand at Club Octagon in Gangnam when the accident occurred. YG Entertainment officials were quick to respond, claiming that the accident was not a result of drink-driving. The police stated they found no signs of alcohol involved and were investigating whether or not the accident was a result of the star driving over the speed limit.

Due to Seungri's current health condition, his agency said he would not participate in YG's upcoming family concert in Singapore, which is scheduled to be held this weekend.

The news of the car accident comes less than two weeks after a van carrying all five members of K-pop girl group Ladies' Code crashed on Sept 3, killing two members, EunB and RiSe.

EunB, 21, was pronounced dead shortly after the accident, while RiSe, 23, died away four days later after undergoing surgery that was cut short due to low blood pressure.

The group was returning to Seoul after participating in a KBS music show in Daegu when the accident occurred.

On Friday, KBS officials said it would air the footage of Ladies' Code final performance on Sunday.

"After discussing the matter with the ladies' relatives and agency, we have decided to air the footage and beautifully show off the group giving it their all on the stage," said a KBS representative.
