Despite the often bleak lyrics, screaming vocals and horror imagery that are often associated with bands like Slipknot, the 46-year-old singer says that metal is all about community.
"It's crazy that this insane form of music appeals to so many people all over the world in much the same way. You're part of the family," he tells The Straits Times in a telephone interview from Hungary, one of the stops on the band's current world tour in support of their sixth album, We Are Not Your Kind.
