Hollywood stars Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie and Amy Adams were among those snubbed at this year's Academy Awards nominations.

Aniston, 45, failed to secure an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her role in Cake, even though she received nominations at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild and Critics' Choice awards.

Likewise, Amy Adams, 40, who won the Golden Globe for her Best Actress performance in Tim Burton's Big Eyes on Sunday, did not get a Best Actress nod at the Oscar nominations.

Also snubbed was actress Angelina Jolie, 39, who did not manage to score a nomination for Best Director and Best Picture categories for her wartime film Unbroken.

Fans took to social media platform Twitter to express their dismay.
