Ocean's 8 is being hailed as a leap forward for female representation in Hollywood with its power women

Not long ago, it would have been unthinkable for a major Hollywood studio to bankroll a big-budget crime movie led by a cast of women.

When actress Sandra Bullock first heard the idea for an all-female addition to the Ocean's franchise - the testosterone-fest headlined by George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon in Ocean's Eleven (2001), Twelve (2004) and Thirteen (2007) - she "thought it was a fun idea", but did not want to get too excited about it.
