SINGAPORE - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will be making an appearance at Marina Bay Sands on Oct 2 to promote his upcoming film Secret Superstar.
Khan, who both co-produced and starred in the film, will be joined by the film's writer-director Advait Chandan at The Mastercard Theatres for a fan event at 8pm.
Passes to the event, In Conversation With Aamir Khan, are free and will be available on a first-come-first-served basis from Thursday (Sept 28) at The Mastercard Theatres box office. The box office is open from 1pm to 10pm from Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Secret Superstar features Khan's Dangal co-star Zaira Wasim as the protagonist Insia, a young girl from a conservative family who aspires to be a world-renowned singer despite many obstacles. It is slated as a Deepavali release on Oct 19.
Singapore will be Khan and Chandan's first promotional stop outside of India.
Khan, who is best known for his roles in box-office hits such as 3 Idiots (2009) and Lagaan (2001), was last seen in 2016's Dangal, a film based on the true story of wrestling coach Mahavir Singh Phogat who raises his two daughters (played by Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar as young girls) from the village to become champion wrestlers. The film has since become the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.
In a video conference with SIngapore media last month, Khan said that like Dangal, Secret Superstar "speaks about the empowerment of the girl child - it's a topic that's close to our hearts".
He is currently filming Thugs Of Hindostan, a period action-adventure film also starring Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif.
