$2,800 ticket for Faye Wong gig

HONG KONG • Are you a Faye Wong fan with 13,888 yuan (S$2,820) to spare?

The Chinese pop queen is said to be giving two exclusive concerts in Shanghai in December: a closed-door show for Alibaba billionaire Jack Ma's guests and a concert where the most expensive ticket is tentatively selling at a global record of 13,888 yuan, reports Apple Daily.

Wong, whose last world tour ran from 2010 to 2012, will return to the stage on Dec 29 and 30, says the report.

Concert organisers were involved in a bidding war for the shows and Ma made the winning bid of 160 million yuan, says Apple Daily, quoting Chinese sources.

The Dec 29 show is private and the Dec 30 show at the Mercedes- Benz Arena in Shanghai is open to the public, but at steep ticket prices, starting at 3,000 yuan, says the report.

Wong will hold a press conference in Beijing on Aug 15 to announce her comeback, says Apple Daily.

She also intends to help her daughter, singer Leah Dou, who has released a maiden record, says the report.

Dou may open for Wong at the concerts, although mother and daughter will not sing together.

There will be a live webcast, although the organisers are working out how to charge for access, says a source.

Wong's manager Katie Chan is quoted as saying: "Faye is indeed giving concerts at the end of the year, but we can't announce details yet. When the time is ripe, we will inform you."
