PARIS • You rise from the ashes and rubble to build a new foundation. That is the way it goes. But, at Courreges, it was unusually literal.

The first showing for the latest reinvention of the storied label, whose past looms large over all of fashion, took place last week at its historic Paris shop, whose emptiness seemed slightly creepy, all concrete and glass.
