NEW HOTEL

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened a new 50-storey property in Doha.

The building, located in the city's West Bay commercial district, is designed to look like a falcon's head in homage to Qatar's time-honoured tradition of falconry.

Luxury accommodation includes 272 guestrooms and suites and 42 serviced apartments, all with floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular views of the city and Gulf.

Amenities include spacious marble bathrooms, a lagoon-shaped pool on a 2,000-sq-m deck; a fully equipped 24-hour fitness centre, sauna and steam rooms.

The hotel's Chi, The Spa, Doha's first luxury Asian-themed spa, also offers an outdoor hydrotonic pool and eight private treatment rooms.

EDM CRUISE

The Livescape Group events agency is offering the third instalment of its popular It's The Ship floating music festival.

The four-day, three-night cruise, a 24-hour party of electronic dance music concerts, will depart from Marina Bay Cruise Centre on Nov 4 and head up the Strait of Malacca to Penang, before returning to Singapore on Nov 7.

WOLF PACK

In Norway's Polar Park, the world's northernmost wildlife park, guests will have the chance to live among Arctic wolves, observing them at close range from the heated comfort of the newly opened Scandinavian-styled and handcrafted Wolf Lodge. The lodge accommodates 10 guests.

Guests can meet the wolves face to face and experience a wolf kiss from the friendly animals under the watch of an expert guide, who accompanies guests throughout their stay and teaches them about the area's fauna.

The park is also home to a variety of native Arctic animals, including wolverine, Arctic fox, bear, lynx and reindeer.

Off The Map Travel agency, based in the United Kingdom, is offering travellers a chance to meet the wolves on a four-day, three-night trip to Narvik, northern Norway, starting from £2,299 (S$4,500), based on four people travelling.
