"Sunny day, sweepin' the clouds away. On my way to where the air is sweet. Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?"

Nearly 50 years after Sesame Street was first broadcast in the United States on Nov 10, 1969, the jaunty opening lines of its theme song are still being heard far and wide. The show is said to reach kids in 70 languages and 150 countries, enchanting them with iconic characters such as curious gentle giant Big Bird, cheerful Elmo and trash can-dwelling Oscar the Grouch.
