Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only daughter of the late pop star Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown, was found unconscious in a bathtub at her home on Saturday.

She was revived and rushed to a hospital, police said. The 21-year-old was placed in a medically-induced coma to address swelling on the brain.

The scene was disturbingly similar to how her mother died at the age of 48 in February 2012. The award-winning star was found in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on the eve of the annual Grammy Awards show.

1. Famous parents

She was born on March 4, 1993, eight months after parents Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown were married. Houston, singer of megahits like I Will Always Love You, filed for divorce in 2006, and was granted custody.

Bobbi Kristina's father, Bobby Brown, is a Grammy Award winner who started his career as frontman for the R&B group New Edition.

Both of Bobbi Kristina's parents struggled with substance abuse, and Houston described their 15-year marriage as drug- and alcohol-fuelled.

Bobby Brown was sentenced to 55 days in jail in 2013 after admitting to driving drunk in 2012.

2. Bond with mother Whitney Houston

Houston loved her daughter fiercely, and her death was a huge blow to her daughter. Bobbi Kristina was hospitalised twice due to anxiety attacks soon after her mother's death in 2012, reports said.

In an interview on the talkshow Oprah, Bobbi Kristina said of Houston: "She's always with me... Her spirit is strong, it's a strong spirit. I feel her pass through me all the time."

She has a tattoo of her mother's initials and four doves on her wrist.

3. Troubled teen

There have long been rumours that Bobbi Kristina was following in her parents' footsteps when it came to drinks and drugs. She has been photographed by entertainment magazines allegedly doing drugs, but has denied that the allegations are true.

Houston reportedly let her drink alcohol when she was underage.

More recently, she seemed to be motivating herself to stay positive. Her Twitter feed over the past year included motivational messages to work out, quotes from celebrities on being true to oneself, loving messages for her husband and remembrances of her mother.

4. Grew up with husband Nick Gordon

She secretly married childhood friend Nick Gordon in January last year. The marriage came under fire from other family members because Gordon has been living with Houston and Bobbi Kristina since he was twelve. Houston asked him to move in with them because he was going through a tough time, the Daily Mail reported.

They insist they are not related by blood. Gordon has said they are "like brother and sister", but insisted the late singer wanted him to look after Bobbi Kristina.

5. Reality show

After her mother's death, Brown had a reality show on Lifetime in 2012 called The Houstons: On Our Own, which also featured Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, and Gordon. Bobbi Kristina frequently seemed inebriated on the show.
