SINGAPORE - In Richard Wagner's "Ring" cycle of operas, gods and mortals seek out a magical golden ring that will allow its owner to achieve world domination. Sound familiar? From the Lord Of The Rings trilogy to the Marvel universe, popular culture has more in common with the 19th century German composer's work than modern audiences might expect.

On Sunday (Jan 5), the Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM) will bring The Valkyrie, the most popular opera in the Ring cycle, to Singapore for the first time - 150 years after it premiered in Germany.
