Right on trend in Qing era China

Opening this weekend, the Fashion And Textiles gallery will display clothes of the late Qing to Republican era in China, while the Jewellery gallery will house artefacts from South-east and wider Asia

Two new galleries at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) open on Saturday, completing the institution's pivot to a decorative arts museum.

The 191 sq m Fashion And Textiles gallery, with 40 outfits on display, highlights the clothes of the late Qing through to the Republican era in China. The 152 sq m Jewellery gallery showcases some 164 artefacts prized by different cultures in the South-east and wider Asian regions.
