Quirky art rocks at Asian Art Biennial

The curating team's interest in artistic processes and regional issues has given the Asian Art Biennial a South-east Asian focus

The exhibition, co-curated by Taiwan artist Hsu Chia-Wei and Singapore artist Ho Tzu-Nyen, is held at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. It features 30 artists from 16 countries.

Hunky men playing billiards in underwear, hipster fermented drinks at an open bar and heavy metal yowling by a rock singer are not usually associated with art exhibitions.

But all these, and more, are on offer at the Asian Art Biennial, organised by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) in Taichung. On till Feb 9 next year, the biennial offers works by 30 artists from 16 places.
