When the shortlists for the Hugo and Nebula, two of the biggest awards in science fiction and fantasy, were announced earlier this year, one name came out of nowhere.

While most sci-fi writers wait their whole lives to make either of those lists, young Singaporean Vina Jie-Min Prasad not only scored nominations in both, but has also been tipped for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer.
