Arts festival shows defy conventions

This year's Singapore arts festival line-up includes a reworking of a classic Kun opera and an audio-visual jam by six home-grown artists

The Singapore International Festival of Arts, which opens on Thursday, features a programme of eclectic music and cross-genre collaborations.

Opening acts include Singaporean troupe Toy Factory Productions' reworking of classic Kun opera in a non-traditional style: arias become dialogue in A Dream Under The Southern Bough - The Beginning.
