The first work of art lawyer Bryan Tan bought was a silkscreen print, Hock Lee Bus, by established Singapore artist Jimmy Ong. It cost $550 without framing.

The 44-year-old recalls being struck by the work which he bought from the Singapore Survey exhibition in 2015: "In this particular work, he has depicted one of the most significant and controversial events in local history, and he did so in 2015, during SG50 - a time of intense national retrospection and introspection.
