Jakarta: A barometer of the growing art market

The Indonesian city is a barometer of the growing art market and its size makes it an attractive market for galleries

The traffic in Jakarta is notoriously bad, but this did not stop more than 39,000 people from arriving - eventually - in the halls of a convention centre for the city's major art fair Art Jakarta.

The 11th edition of the fair, which ran at the Jakarta Convention Centre from last Friday till the end of the weekend, featured 70 galleries, including 40 from other Asia-Pacific countries.
