Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra Is Recruiting Young Musicians

The orchestra is looking for Singapore citizens, permanent residents and international students studying here, aged between 11 and 26, who are proficient in playing one or more of the following instruments: bowed string (huqin, cello, double bass), plucked string (liuqin, pipa, ruan/ sanxian, yangqin, guzheng, harp), wind (dizi, sheng, suona/guan) and percussion. Registration closes on June 12. Successful applicants will be notified to attend auditions on July 23, 29 and 30 and Aug 19 and 20.

#ProjectBlackout: All Blacks Apprentice

Air New Zealand and New Zealand Rugby are looking for two rugby fans to join the New Zealand national rugby union team, All Blacks, as they take on the Samoan national rugby union team, Manu Samoa, in Auckland. The volunteers will stay at the All Blacks team's hotel and report for duty in Auckland on or before June 15. Applications close on Monday at 11.59pm.

Meet The Author: Choo Waihong Of The Kingdom Of Women

Victoria Memorial Hall 1930

The long-running Young Virtuoso Recital Series showcases Singapore's brightest young pianists. This instalment features, for the first time, a non-pianist - cellist Loke Hoe Kit. Stitches Of Love - Hidden Blessings In Children's Clothing And Accessories

In ancient Chinese culture, children's clothing and accessories were more than mere adornments of the body - they were bearers of the hopes and blessings for the young wearers.
