Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra Audition 2016

The orchestra is recruiting new members and application is open till Oct 3.

Applicants have to be Singaporeans, permanent residents and students studying in Singapore; between the ages of 11 and 26 as of Jan 1, 2017; and play at least a Chinese orchestral instrument with a minimum of Grade 5 in ABRSM Music Theory. Auditions will be held from Nov 13 to 18 at the Singapore Conference Hall.

SSO Presents Shakespeare400: Hamlet • The Year 1917

The Singapore Symphony Orchestra's all-Russian programme sees Nikolai Demidenko take on the lyrical and virtuosic Third Piano Concerto by Prokofiev. Home-grown conductor Darrell Ang closes the concert with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 12, a piece dedicated to the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution.

Kenangan: Gemilang Suara Kita

Artistari Gentari returns to Pesta Raya - Malay Festival of Arts with dances that trace the evolution of pop-traditional songs. Led by young choreographer Bada Hassan, this year's performance is a collaboration with young music director Aidil Akmal.

The Parliament In Singapore History Exhibition

This exhibition charts the history of The Arts House from 1827 to 1999. Be engaged by the story of the house that witnessed the birth of a nation, as well as the development of a legislature that has shaped Singapore's growth and progress as a multi-racial parliamentary democracy. Singapore's nation-building journey is encapsulated in rare archival images and spoken words of pioneer parliamentarians such as Singapore's founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, Dr Goh Keng Swee and Mr S. Rajaratnam.

Portraits Of Reminiscence: Solo Exhibition By Chan Chang How

Chan Chang How is a second-generation Singaporean artist who is well-versed in watercolour, oil, mixed medium and Chinese ink painting. His latest exhibition features a selection of 26 watercolour pieces done in the last decade, comprising old and new Singapore street scenes, vanishing trades and sights from his trips to Bali and Nepal.

This collaborative exhibition between two Singaporean artists, P.G. Lee and Yeo Tze Yang, features paintings, videos, found objects, a publication and an online blog.

Monkey Business

Memories Of China

Artists Chen Junde, Guan Puxue, Mao Yigang, Song Huimin, Wang Keju, Weng Kaixuan and Wang Lu explore the resurgence of art in China after the Cultural Revolution of 1966 to 1976. The artists, who were born close to or during that period, convey their perceptions of China and art in the country through their landscape paintings.

Exhibition Of Studio Ghibli's Artwork

Polar Bear Gallery is exhibiting original hand-drawn production celluloids from Studio Ghibli films such as Castle In The Sky (1986), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Kiki's Delivery Service (1989) and Princess Mononoke (1997). The celluloids are part of a private collection and being exhibited for the first time in Singapore. The gallery will also showcase works by renowned Japanese artist Naohisa Inoue, a background artist for Studio Ghibli's animated film Whisper Of The Heart (1995).
