Open Call: Singapore Creative Writing Residency 2016

Jointly organised by the National University of Singapore's (NUS) University Scholars Programme and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences as well as The Arts House, the Singapore Creative Writing Residency 2016 is offering two six-month residencies from August this year to January next year. Both residents will receive a monthly stipend and the international resident will reside at NUS. Writers of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Applications close on Feb 14.

Rhapsodies Of Spring 2016

Singapore Chinese Orchestra's annual Chinese New Year concert moves to a bigger venue and features more songs. The concert is conducted by the orchestra's music director Yeh Tsung and will kick off with Li Huan Zhi's merry Spring Festival Overture. It will also feature Singapore percussion group ZingO Festival Drum Group and host Marcus Chin.

La Loba By Lenka Vagnerova & Company

Part of M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2016, La Loba (she-wolf in Spanish) is inspired by a tale passed down generations of storytellers. A woman wanders through the countryside for years, building creatures out of the bones she carries around and bringing animals back to life. The production features dancer Andrea Opavska and singer Jana Vebrova.

SG Art Week: Treasures Of The World From The British Museum

Dichotomy Of An Artist

This exhibition is about an artist finding his way out by looking inwards. Singapore artist Aaron Gan has developed two directions to his watercolour practice: an exploration of Chinese painting in colour with stylised calligraphy; and a dense agglomeration of monochromatic squares signifying the starry night sky. The latter series won him a Gold Award at the UOB Painting of the Year Competition last year.
