From reinterpretations of Malay folklore and traditional art forms such as keroncong and dikir barat to contemporary pop and rock concerts, the 17th edition of the Esplanade's Malay arts festival Pesta Raya seeks to highlight the Malay identity across the "Nusantara", or Malay and Indonesian archipelago.
Comprising both ticketed and free theatre, music, dance performances and workshops throughout the arts venue from July 12 to 15, the festival takes place at the tail end of the month-long Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
