Evita, the musical that traces the life of Argentinian political leader Eva Duarte de Peron, will be coming to Singapore next February.
The musical charts her rags-to-riches rise from fatherless child to ambitious actress to the most powerful woman in Latin America - she became First Lady of Argentina after marrying military leader-turned-president Juan Peron.
Set in Argentina's capital city Buenos Aires between 1934 and 1952, this musical has won more than 20 major awards and is an original West End and Broadway production.
It features lyrics by the award-winning lyricist Tim Rice and music by prolific composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
This version, which will make its Asian premiere at the Mastercard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands as part of an international tour, will be directed by legendary Broadway director Hal Prince.
Prince has won a whopping 21 Tony awards - more than anyone in history. Apart from Evita, his directorial and producing credits include Candide, West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Show Boat, A Little Night Music, Follies, Cabaret and Fiddler On The Roof.
