The new permanent gallery at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre is a good place to take kids and tourists for an interactive introduction to the Chinese Singaporean community. This is not so much a serious history gallery as an accessible pop culture lite sampler where artefacts such as one of designer Lai Chan's glamourous cheongsam gowns, singer Stefanie Sun's 2000 Golden Melody statuette for Best New Artist and director Anthony Chen's 2013 Golden Horse trophy for Ilo Ilo take pride of place.

Visitors are encouraged to pick up a radio-frequency identification (RFID) bracelet which they can customise and tap in to answer survey questions at various points in the exhibition. The exhibition is divided into five zones.
