SINGAPORE - The impending closure of Books Kinokuniya's Liang Court outlet, which will open for the last time this Sunday after 36 years in business, has dismayed book lovers in Singapore.

Brought down by falling sales, it joins a long list of brick-and-mortar bookstores that have shuttered over the years amid rising rents and competition from online retailers.
