Kwok Min Yi, who takes the lead in Swan Lake, will be Singapore Dance Theatre's first Singaporean female principal dancer

This week, the Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT) will stage the classical Tchaikovsky ballet Swan Lake for the fifth time. But for the first time, the lead role of the Swan Queen will be danced by a Singaporean.

Kwok Min Yi, who makes her debut in the role on Friday, will also be promoted to principal artist next year, making her the company's first Singaporean female principal.
