GERMANY - Spring or early summer is a wonderful time to visit any temperate country, but there is one reason Germany is extra special for me at that time. Between mid-April and June 24, Germans celebrate the spargelzeit or asparagus season.
I am not talking about the green asparagus that Asians commonly stir-fry. I like those too, but I have learnt to love the tender white asparagus of Germany.
