SINGAPORE - After a seven-month stay in Kobe, Japan, where I grew up, I was filled with anxiety about my flight back to Singapore on April 25.

I visit Kobe every year, and this time, I had kept extending my stay, hoping that the quarantine period in Singapore would soon be reduced to seven days. But finally, I accepted the fact that it would last 14 days.
