UZBEKISTAN – “Wait until we get to Khiva,” my Uzbek friend Otabek Saidov whispers whenever I gush over the country’s beautiful sights, as he takes my sister and me on a tour of the country.
Throughout an eight-day trip in March 2024 – which included capital city Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara – he would say we had yet to experience the country’s best. The 27-year-old, who was born and raised in Uzbekistan, is a front office manager at a hotel in Khiva.
