KANCHANABURI, THAILAND - Pre-pandemic, I often travelled solo on a shoestring budget.
Toting a cabin-size backpack, I flew budget and stayed in $5-a-night hostels with shared bathrooms, where eye shades and ear plugs were necessities. Rented bicycles and motorbikes were my choice of land transport.
