If there’s one thing we Singaporeans love, it’s our luxury bags. Whether it’s a classic Chanel flap, a trusty Loewe Puzzle, or the coveted Hermès Kelly, these bags are investments, statements, and sometimes, a little slice of joy.
And like any prized possession, they deserve a little TLC. While bag spas are great for deep cleans and restoration, they don’t always come cheap. Enter: The humble leather bag wipe.
Affordable, convenient, and surprisingly effective, these pocket-sized saviours can help keep your bags looking their best in between spa visits. To find the best leather bag wipes, I tested some to see which ones actually clean without compromising on care.

How the leather bag wipes were tested and reviewed
To see which ones are actually worth your time (and money), I tried four different wipes across a range of bags and materials, from smooth calfskin and coated canvas to patent leather and even suede.
Each wipe was scored based on six key attributes I think every shopper should care about:
Effectiveness: Does it actually clean dirt, stains or grime with minimal effort?
Material Compatibility: Can it be used safely across various materials without discolouration or damage?
Ease of Use: Is the wipe easy to handle? Is the packaging fuss-free and travel-friendly?
Scent & Residue: Does it smell pleasant or neutral? And does it leave behind any unwanted shine, foam or greasy residue?
Maintenance: Beyond cleaning, does it help restore the finish or nourish the leather?
Value-for-Money: Are you getting good quantity and quality for the price?
No matter if you’re dealing with a wine spill, a muddy corner, or just everyday grime, the best leather wipes should be able to tackle any stains. Without further ado, here’s what passed the test and what didn’t quite wipe the floor.

Veil Premium Leather Wipes, $43
Original price: $45 (4 per cent off) Buy here
PHOTO: VEIL
Best for: Luxe bags that need TLC
Rating: Effectiveness: 9.5/10 | Material Compatibility: 9/10 | Ease of Use: 9.5/10 | Scent & Residue: 9.5/10 | Maintenance: 8.5/10 | Value-for-Money: 8/10
Final score: 9/10
There’s a reason this one is called a premium wipe. Every detail of Veil’s leather wipes feels well-considered - from its dual-sided texture (pebbled for tough spots, smooth for gentle wipes) to its individually packed sachets, which slip effortlessly into your travel pouch or clutch.
I used it on an old leather wallet with aged paint marks and the pebbled side lifted the stain in seconds - no hard scrubbing required. It also worked beautifully on smooth leather, coated canvas, and even patent, all without staining or leaving a trace.
What’s particularly nice is that it leaves your bag feeling subtly moisturised, with a soft sheen that enhances rather than alters the finish.
There’s no waxy layer, no greasy touch, and absolutely no scent, which is an absolute godsend if you’re sensitive to fragrance or don’t want your bags smelling like baby wipes.
The only catch? It’s the priciest of the lot, at $45 for 20 wipes. But honestly, if you’re already dropping four digits on a handbag, a $2.25 wipe feels like a justifiable insurance plan.
ALAZCO Sneaker Saver Premium Cleaning Wipes, $17.08

Best for: Big clean-ups at a small cost
Rating: Effectiveness: 8.5/10 | Material Compatibility: 8/10 | Ease of Use: 9.5/10 | Scent & Residue: 9/10 | Maintenance: 7/10 | Value-for-Money: 9/10
Final score: 8.5/10
Technically designed for sneakers, this pick came highly recommended by a friend who swears by it for bag maintenance too. And truthfully? It didn’t disappoint.
The wipes are hefty in size and thick in quality, with dual-sided textures that make cleaning larger bags or stubborn spots a breeze. On a grimy leather backpack with dried mud, it took just two wipes to restore it to respectability.
I also noticed that the colour on my forest green bag looked refreshed and brighter post-use. It’s odorless, doesn’t leave any cast or sticky feel, and is individually wrapped, which scores points for portability.
That said, the formulation is strong and you do want to test it on a discreet corner before going all in. When I tried it on coated canvas, the area darkened slightly before drying back to normal.
At just over $17 for 20 wipes, it punches above its price point. It’s great if you’re looking for a hardworking, no-nonsense option to stash in your glove box or gym bag.
Guardsman Leather Clean and Condition Weekly Wipes, $25.25
PHOTO: LAZADA
Best for: Weekly wipe-downs
Rating: Effectiveness: 8/10 | Material Compatibility: 7/10 | Ease of Use: 7.5/10 | Scent & Residue: 8/10 | Maintenance: 8.5/10 | Value-for-Money: 9/10
Final score: 8/10
If your goal is regular maintenance rather than dramatic rescue missions, Guardsman’s leather wipes are a solid middle ground.
They do a respectable job removing minor oils and grime, dry quickly after use, and leave a gentle sheen without a waxy finish. I liked that they’re multipurpose, as they are great for leather shoes, belts, and even sofas so you’re getting good mileage.
However, they aren’t suitable for delicate materials like faux leather, suede or nubuck, which limits their range. The packaging is a resealable pouch, but the adhesive doesn’t stick that well after a few uses, so you’ll want to store them upright or risk them drying out.
Also, despite being marketed as odorless, there’s a faint synthetic smell that lingers a little longer than expected. Still, for a multi-purpose household staple it’s not a bad deal. Just maybe don’t count on it for your luxury clutch.
Currently, the Guardsman Leather Clean and Condition Weekly Wipes are out of stock on the Guardsman LazMall store and Shopee Mall store.
But you can consider getting the Guardsman Protect & Preserve Leather Wipes, which works similarly and is in the same price range, or browse other Guardsman leather care products.
Lumie Leather Cleaning Wipes, $28.56

Best for: Budget-conscious bag lovers
Rating: Effectiveness: 7/10 | Material Compatibility: 7/10 | Ease of Use: 7/10 | Scent & Residue: 8/10 | Maintenance: 8/10 | Value-for-Money: 9.5/10
Final score: 7.75/10
Initially, we found these leather wipes for $7.09 on Shopee, which made them the most wallet-friendly option in the line-up. But they’ve since gone out of stock and can now be found on Amazon for a higher price.
Truthfully, you do get what you pay for. But at the end of the day, these wipes do the job and are great for casual use.
The wipes are lightly textured, portable, and perfectly adequate for dealing with simple dirt or dust. There’s a beaded side studded with tiny rubber nubs designed for deeper cleans, though I didn’t notice much difference in effect between the two.
That said, these are not built for heavy-duty use. The sheet is thinner, and it tore mid-use when I pressed a bit too firmly with my nail. It also foams up while wiping, which can drip or leave streaks unless you follow up with a clean cloth.
The scent leans synthetic, but not offensively so. Still, if you’re after something cheap and cheerful to keep on hand for minor mishaps, this one makes sense.

FAQs: Best leather wipes for bags
Which leather wipes are the best?
Of the leather wipes in Singapore that were tried, Veil’s Premium Leather Wipes and ALAZCO’s Sneaker Saver Premium Cleaning Wipes came out tops.
What can I use to wipe my leather bag?
Besides leather wipes, you can use a thick cloth or a microfibre cloth with slightly soapy water. The cloth should be only slightly damp when wiping your bag.
Are leather wipes good for leather?
Yes, leather wipes are usually specially formulated for leather and do not contain agents that will dry or crack the leather.
When cleaning leathers bags, look for wipes that are formulated for bags only. If you use multi-purpose leather wipes, try it on a small area of your bag first. Some may have a formula that is too strong and discolour your bag.
What should you not use on leather bags?
Avoid using alcohol, acetone or any other abrasive solvents for your leather bag. Generally, using leather bag wipes is a quick, safe and easy way to maintain your bags.
