SINGAPORE – Jewellery and Valentine’s Day have long gone hand in hand. In 2025, before diving into its trove of baubles, American jeweller Tiffany & Co is placing the spotlight on the written word first.

Unveiling its new The Language of Love campaign, featuring notable poems and literary works by acclaimed poets and writers, the brand has taken over quintessential New York City locations.

These poetic tributes – penned by authors such as Americans Ella Wheeler Wilcox and Diane Ackerman, as well as Greek philosopher Plato – aim to celebrate the many faces of love.

Gracing buildings in the city are a mix of excerpts such as “The madness of love is the greatest of heaven’s blessings” from Plato’s dialogue Phaedrus; and “A thousand half-loves must be forsaken to take one whole heart home”, a quote from Persian poet and 13th-century Sufi mystic Rumi.

But if your significant other’s love language is jewellery, Tiffany & Co is happy to provide.

The brand, now owned by LVMH, was founded in New York City by Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1837. Through nearly two centuries, it has become synonymous with romance and engagements with its diamond jewellery.

One of its most distinct designs today is the HardWear collection, recognisable from its bold, chunky gauge links. Drawing on an archival design from 1962, HardWear was launched in 2017 as an expression of love’s transformative strength, embodying an enduring resilience and ability to be free – just like the city of Manhattan that served as inspiration.

Daunting at first glance, its utilitarian hardware captures the industrialism of the concrete jungle. The collection of bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings (from $1,150 for a sterling silver bracelet) has both statement and layering pieces that add an instant edge to any outfit.

Meanwhile, the Tiffany Lock collection makes for a good couple gift. Romantic in intent but practical in expression, the padlock-inspired line is a symbol of security, protection and long-lasting commitment.

Launched in 2022 as a line of bracelets (from $6,450), the Tiffany Lock was inspired by a padlock brooch cast in gold from 1883.

Wearable every day, the minimalist, unisex bangles are available in white, yellow and rose gold, and diamond-paved variations.

Earlier in 2025, the jeweller expanded the range to include a ring ($4,750), pendant ($5,100) and earrings ($6,850) iterations set with rare pink sapphires, symbolising love and power.

For styles that lean less romantic, there are additions to its Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams collection, featuring highly coveted Tahitian cultured pearls.

American multi-hyphenate Williams – who wears another hat in the LVMH group as Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director – debuted the collection in mid-2024. With its spear-like motifs and soft, curved links, the line includes necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings inspired by Poseidon’s trident in Greek mythology.

Following the second drop of the collection, which introduced freshwater pearl designs, this third chapter gives love to the luminous freshwater pearl’s darker counterpart.

Sourced from French Polynesia, these Tahitian pearls glimmer in the light with their natural grey hues and striking overtones that morph from green to purple.

No two pearls are alike, so much care was put into selecting them for visual uniformity.

Williams turned them into a ring ($14,000), pendant ($14,000), earrings ($23,600), bracelet ($44,200) and necklace ($88,500), each crafted in 18K rose gold with pave diamonds. On the bracelet and necklace, spike rondelles crafted from 18K gold alternate with the pearls for a striking aesthetic.

The resulting pieces are an assured statement of individuality – perhaps the perfect, albeit lavish, self-love gift.
