Stay protected with skin-loving sunscreens

Re:erth’s Radiance Defense ($65 for 50ml).

With the weather oscillating between extremes, do not forget your sunscreen. Take your pick from two new launches.

Home-grown skincare brand Re:erth has launched its first sunscreen in its eight-year history. Radiance Defense ($65 for 50ml) was formulated to combine sun protection with skin health benefits in a comfortable, breathable texture.

Lightweight and easily absorbed, it is said to provide five layers of protection, including from UVA, UVB and near-infrared rays.

The product also contains mandarin orange peel extract to help with refining skin texture for a more translucent complexion, and rose myrtle, said to help mitigate UV-induced damage and prevent accelerated skin ageing.

On the luxury end is Augustinus Bader’s latest innovation. At the intersection of suncare and skincare, The Sunscreen SPF 50 ($205 for 30ml) is the London-based brand’s first broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects and renews skin at the same time.

As with all its products, this contains TFC8, a proprietary skin cellular-renewing technology said to help combat signs of ageing and damage.

Other key ingredients include microalgae extract, said to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and an antioxidant-rich botanical complex of pomegranate flower, perilla leaf and kakadu plum that defends against delayed sun-induced skin damage and stress.

South Korean brand Laneige’s Bouncy & Firm range finally has a serum. Targeted at young people looking to kick-start their anti-ageing skincare journey, the Bouncy & Firm Serum ($69 for 30ml) is designed to plump and firm skin to combat early signs of ageing.

It is powered by four types of peptides and a peony and collagen complex for intense hydration, and its patented antioxidant and skin-texturising oil capsules melt into skin for a smoothing finish.

The serum joins a Sleeping Mask ($56 for 60ml), Eye Sleeping Mask ($46 for 20g) and Lip Treatment ($39 for 12g) in the collection.

From April 24 to 27, the brand has stationed a pop-up at Bugis Square to celebrate the launch. Visitors who complete the journey card can score a free five-piece trial kit of the serum and a try at the photo booth, as well as stand a chance to win deluxe-sized samples and vouchers.
