TOKYO – Along the busy Center-Gai street in Shibuya, which teems with shoppers, there is extra buzz outside one store.

It is a shiny 386 sq m duplex boutique that takes up a building, with a discreet storeroom on the third floor. The brightly lit interior holds shelves upon shelves of shoes and bags. Security guards stand at the entrance, filtering the flow of invited guests.
