Who: Singaporean actress, model and content creator Chen Yixin, who made her acting debut in the Channel 8 series While We Are Young (2017).

She also starred in horror-comedy series Mr Midnight: Beware The Monsters (2022) on Netflix, as well as the second season of Mediacorp period drama Titoudao: Dawn Of A New Stage (2023).

In April, the 24-year-old ventured into fashion by launching her online clothing brand Beike Studio (beike.studio), featuring swimwear and apparel that flatter petite Asian body types.

Chen, who is single, lives with her parents – local celebrity couple Edmund Chen, 63, and Xiang Yun, 62 – in the east. She has an elder brother, actor-artist Chen Xi, 33, who is living in London.

“I sleep in till noon on Saturdays, just to pay off some sleep debt from the week.

We usually have lunch as a family, which my mum will cook. She loves preparing Teochew dishes. The three of us like really clear and bland dishes, such as chicken or pork soups with plain white rice. If we’re feeling fancy, there’ll be fried eggs and stir-fried vegetables.

Most of my industry friends live nearby, so we’ll drive to get coffee after lunch. I like Hellu Coffee at Far East Square, which is owned by a close friend. My go-to order is its iced White Creamu, which is essentially a latte topped with whipped cream.

My family and I spoil ourselves with a fancier dinner. We love Japanese food and my parents are best friends with the chef-owner of Wasabi Tei at Far East Plaza, so we frequent that restaurant.

After that, we’ll have a movie night at home. We most recently watched 3 Body Problem (2024) on Netflix, which was highly recommended by my dad. My mum and I caved in, and we got hooked on it too.

On Sunday mornings, I’ll wake up at 9am and have breakfast with my parents.

I like traditional Singaporean breakfast offerings – just two soft-boiled eggs and kaya toast.

Afterwards, I’ll head to Sentosa. My friends and I like visiting the beach clubs there, but my girlfriends also love to plan picnics. We’ll take along a bottle of wine, prepare a charcuterie board and take a taxi to Sentosa.

We usually go to Tanjong Beach because there are a lot of facilities and toilets. By preparing our own picnic and not going to a beach club, we save a lot of money.

I love the beach, which was one of the reasons I started Beike Studio. I couldn’t find bikini styles which I liked on the local market. Additionally, growing up in a conservative family, I didn’t want my dad to see me wearing anything too revealing.

When we’re done chilling out at the beach, we’ll go to VivoCity mall and for hotpot at Beauty In The Pot. My friends always judge me for this, but I love the Cooling Coconut Broth, which is not a common order.

My parents love it when my friends come over, so we usually head to my place after dinner and relax, wrapping up the perfect weekend.
